Church hurt is real.
Many people have been judged, rejected, ignored, manipulated, or mistreated by people inside a church. Some were wounded by leaders. Some were wounded by members. Some were wounded by their Christian family members (you know the, "holier than thou", family members).
Some were made to feel unwelcome when they were at their lowest point and needed love the most. Let's not forget the times you fell into sin while in your journey, you asked the Lord for forgiveness and repented but the church people around you continued to treat you poorly.
The pain is real, but so is the deception that often follows it.
One of the enemy’s greatest tactics is convincing people that because someone in the church hurt them, Jesus somehow failed them too.
He whispers lies like, “If that’s Christianity, I don’t want any part of it.” He takes a wound caused by people and turns it into a wall between a person and Christ.
But here’s the truth: people hurt you. Jesus didn’t.
The church is not Jesus.
Those people sitting in the pews are imperfect human beings who are still battling flesh, pride, sin, and spiritual immaturity.
Some genuinely love God and seek to follow Him. Others may attend church regularly while their hearts remain far from Him.
Regardless, their actions, attitudes, and words do not define who Jesus is.
In fact, Scripture tells us that we will know people by their fruit (Matthew 7:16). When someone gossips, judges harshly, excludes others, manipulates, or tears people down, they are not displaying the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Their behavior reflects a heart that needs transformation, not the character of Christ.
This isn't only about churchgoers who act this way; it can also include friends and family members who mistreat you because of your past mistakes and sins. Even after you've been redeemed and forgiven by Christ, the enemy tries to remind you of your past to trap you in shame and guilt. The people in your community, who should be guided by the Holy Spirit, are meant to support you and pray for you, recognizing that you're facing spiritual warfare.
The enemy wants wounded people to stop seeking God altogether. He wants them to blame Jesus for wounds He never caused. He wants them to avoid prayer, avoid Scripture, avoid fellowship, and eventually abandon their pursuit of God entirely.
But Jesus never told us to place our faith in people.
He told us to place our faith in Him!

Even among Jesus’ twelve disciples was Judas. Jesus was betrayed by someone who walked closely with Him.
The presence of Judas did not make Jesus unfaithful. Likewise, the presence of hypocrites, immature believers, or unhealthy leaders does not change the truth of who Christ is.
And because we are called to be like Christ, we must take into account that when people treat us badly, that shouldn't change who we are, how we love, and how we show up for others.
The reality is that there are still faithful men and women of God who love His people deeply. There are churches where the Word of God is preached with truth and love. There are believers who will pray with you, encourage you, walk beside you, and point you back to Jesus.
Don’t allow the enemy to use a painful experience to convince you that every church is the same or that God has abandoned you.
The Lord desires relationship with all of His children.
He is still calling prodigals home.
He is still healing broken hearts.
He is still restoring wounded souls.
He is still saving lives.
If church hurt has become your reason for staying away from Jesus, I encourage you to bring that hurt before Him. Let Him heal what people damaged. Let Him restore what people broke. Let Him show you the difference between religion and relationship, between church culture and Christ Himself.
Don’t even allow family members who have been in church all their lives, yet still have not learned how to love people the way Jesus commands us to, to become the reason you stop seeking Him for yourself.
It is not God’s fault that people fail to follow His ways. Remember, we are all human, we have all sinned, and we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
Some people may know church, but they do not truly know Christ.
Don’t allow the failures of others to keep you from the Savior who desires a relationship with you. Continue pursuing Jesus for yourself, one surrendered day at a time.
You may have been wounded by people, but you can still be healed by Christ.
The answer to church hurt is not running from Jesus.
The answer is running to Him.
Heart Check ❤️
Have you allowed the actions of people to shape your view of Jesus? What would happen if you gave Christ an opportunity to heal the wounds others caused?
Obedience Over Everything. Even when people fail us, Jesus never will. ❤️✝️

Had to go thru the church heart myself. Its painful , but im glad It didnt have me walk away from God forever.
Awesome word of encouragement to take everything to Jesus because he will work it out and remember it’s not his fault for the pain a person caused and forgive quickly so you don’t suffer.
