Saved, Not Stuck: The Truth About Living for Christ While You’re Young

There’s a narrative floating around that needs to be confronted head-on:

“If you choose Christ while you’re young, your life is basically over.”

No fun. No freedom. No experiences. Just rules, restrictions, and sitting on the sidelines while everyone else “lives.”

And if we’re being honest, that lie has kept a lot of people from fully surrendering.

Because it sounds like choosing God means choosing a boring life.

But the truth?

That mindset couldn’t be further from reality.

The Lie: “You Can’t Do Anything”

Somewhere along the way, following Christ got reduced to a list of “don’ts”:

• Don’t go here

• Don’t do that

• Don’t listen to this

• Don’t hang with them

So to a young person, it feels like:

“What’s left?”

And when all you see is restriction without understanding purpose, it feels like loss instead of protection.

But here’s the shift that changes everything:

God is not trying to limit your life, He’s trying to protect your purpose.

Freedom Isn’t What the World Sold You

The world defines freedom as:

• Doing whatever you want

• Following every feeling

• Saying yes to every opportunity

• Living with no boundaries

But look closer.

That kind of “freedom” often leads to:

• Brokenness

• Regret

• Confusion

• Bondage to habits you didn’t see coming

So is that really freedom?

Or is it just disguised captivity?

Because real freedom is not the ability to do anything…

It’s the power to choose what won’t destroy you.

Following Christ Doesn’t Remove Life, It Gives You Real Life

Choosing Christ doesn’t mean your life gets smaller.

It means your life gets clearer.

You still:

• Laugh

• Travel

• Build friendships

• Enjoy life

But now:

• You have peace while doing it

• You have discernment about what’s good for you

• You’re not waking up with regret attached to your choices

The difference isn’t that you “can’t do anything.”

The difference is:

You no longer desire everything.

You Outgrow Things—You’re Not Missing Them

One of the biggest shifts in this walk is realizing:

You’re not being “left out”…

You’re growing out.

Things that once felt exciting start to feel empty.

Environments that once felt normal start to feel heavy.

Conversations that once entertained you start to feel draining.

And it’s not because you’re boring.

It’s because your spirit is maturing.

The Enemy Loves This Lie for a Reason

Let’s be real, this lie is strategic.

Because if the enemy can convince you that:

• Living for Christ is boring

• Sin is more exciting

• Obedience equals restriction

Then he can keep you chasing temporary highs instead of eternal purpose.

Especially when you’re young.

Because the earlier you believe that lie, the longer you delay your calling.

What Your Life Actually Looks Like With Christ

Let’s paint a real picture.

Living for Christ looks like:

• Peace in your mind when chaos is around you

• Confidence in who you are without needing validation

• Relationships built on truth, not trauma

• Discipline that produces real results

• Joy that doesn’t depend on a moment

It’s not a perfect life.

But it’s a grounded life.

Yes, You Will Have to Say No

Let’s not sugarcoat it.

There are things you’ll have to walk away from:

• Certain environments

• Certain habits

• Certain relationships

But here’s the key:

Every “no” is making room for a better “yes.”

You’re not losing life.

You’re refining it.

I thought choosing Christ meant I was going to miss out.

I thought I’d have to give up “fun” and settle into something dull.

But what I didn’t realize was, I was already settling.

Settling for temporary happiness.

Settling for confusion.

Settling for cycles I couldn’t break.

And when I chose Christ, I didn’t lose my life…

I finally found it.
