Sanctification

I was listening to a podcast called Shaping Culture, a Christian-based podcast featuring Jackie Hill Perry as the guest speaker. They were talking about how we discern what God has called us to do. Sometimes, we may not feel like doing it, but we choose obedience anyway because we know we’re called to it.

That made me think, this really speaks to the condition of our hearts. It shows that we’re in a process. God is working on us gradually, and everything happens in His timing.

Jackie gave an example about the promise God made to the Israelites and how He gave them the Promised Land little by little. He didn’t give it all to them at once, it came in pieces. That’s so similar to our sanctification journey. It’s not an instant, all-at-once transformation. Instead, God gives us growth in stages.

He does this because He knows our hearts. If we were given everything at once, we might stop seeking Him. We might start relying on our own strength, our own understanding, and our own ways because we’d feel like we already “have it all.”

But God, in His wisdom, gives us things little by little to keep us dependent on Him, to keep our hearts longing for Him and rooted in Him.
