Is Your Name Still Written? A Call to Examine Your Salvation

Updated: Aug 28
There is a truth many people don’t like to talk about, but it is necessary, biblical, and rooted in love: salvation is not something we treat casually. It is not a one-time statement with no transformation. It is a life surrendered, walked out daily, and guarded with reverence.
We live in a time where the phrase “once saved, always saved” is often repeated without full understanding or accountability. But the Word of God calls us to something deeper, something active, something real.
Salvation Is Not Just Spoken, It’s Lived
Giving your life to Christ is not just repeating words. It is repentance. It is turning away from sin and turning toward God. It is allowing the Holy Spirit to transform your heart, your mind, and your lifestyle.
The Bible makes this very clear:
Philippians 2:12
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
This doesn’t mean we earn salvation through works, it means we walk it out with seriousness, humility, and obedience. There is a responsibility that comes with saying “yes” to Jesus.
You cannot claim Christ and continuously, willfully live in sin with no conviction, no repentance, and no desire to change. That is not salvation, that is deception.

God Knows the Heart, Not Just Your Words
It is easy to say, “I gave my life to Christ.” But God is not moved by empty words. He sees the heart. He knows your intentions. He knows if your surrender is real or if it’s just something you said in a moment.
1 Samuel 16:7
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
You cannot fool God. You cannot perform your way into righteousness. You cannot live however you want and expect His covering to remain over disobedience.
Can a Name Be Removed from the Book of Life?
This is where many become uncomfortable, but the Bible speaks clearly.
Revelation 3:5
“He who overcomes… I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life.”
That statement alone implies that it is possible for a name to be removed. This is why endurance matters. This is why obedience matters. This is why a true relationship with Jesus matters.
Salvation is not about starting, it’s about finishing.
A Warning Against Willful Sin
There is a difference between struggling with sin and choosing sin.
We all fall short. We all have moments where we miss the mark. But there is a danger in knowingly, willingly returning to sin without repentance, especially when you know the truth.
Hebrews 10:26
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left.”
That is a sobering warning. It is not meant to condemn, but to wake us up.
Grace is not a license to sin. Grace is the power to come out of it.
Judgment Is Real, And Everything Is Recorded
There will come a day where every life is examined. Nothing will be hidden. Nothing will be overlooked.
Revelation 20:12
“And I saw the dead… standing before God, and books were opened… and the dead were judged according to what they had done.”
And then comes the final truth:
Revelation 20:15
“Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
This is not symbolic language to ignore. This is reality. Eternity is real. Heaven is real. Hell is real.

This Is Not About Fear, It’s About Truth and Love
This message is not meant to scare you into submission. It is meant to awaken you into truth.
God is not looking for perfection; He is looking for surrender.
He is looking for hearts that say:
“Lord, correct me.”
“Lord, lead me.”
“Lord, change me.”
Because a truly saved life produces fruit.
Galatians 5:22-23
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…”
If there is no fruit, there is something to examine.
Examine Yourself Honestly
The question is not:
Did I say a prayer once?
The question is:
Am I truly following Jesus?
Is there evidence of transformation in my life?
Do I feel conviction when I sin?
Do I repent and turn away, or justify and continue?
2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.”
This is personal. This is between you and God.
A Call Back to Truth
If you’ve been living in a way that doesn’t reflect Christ, this is not the time to feel condemned, it’s time to return.
God is merciful. He is patient. He is loving.
But He is also just.
Do not play with your salvation. Do not assume covering where there is no surrender. Do not believe the lie that you can live however you want and still inherit the Kingdom.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Search our hearts. Reveal anything in us that is not like You.
If we have been deceived, open our eyes.
If we have been walking in willful sin, give us the strength to turn away.
Create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit within us.
Teach us to walk in obedience, not just in word but in truth.
Let our lives reflect a real relationship with You.
And help us endure until the end.
In the Mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

✨ Questions to Reflect on Your Heart
If God examined my life today, would my actions reflect true surrender or just religious routine?
Do I genuinely desire a relationship with Jesus, or am I only holding onto the idea of being “saved”?
What areas of my life am I still withholding from God, even though I know He’s calling me to release them?
Am I producing the fruit of a transformed life (love, obedience, humility), or am I still led by my flesh?
If my name is written in the Book of Life, does my life bear evidence of it daily?
Before you go…
