You Can’t Live Both Ways: A Call to True Repentance

Updated: Apr 29
There is something happening right now, and if you are spiritually aware, you can feel it.
The body of Christ is louder than it has ever been.
Everywhere you turn, podcasts, social media, conversations, churches, Jesus is being talked about. Repentance is being preached. Salvation is being declared. This isn’t random. This isn’t coincidence.
This is God calling out to His people.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people…” — Acts 2:17
God is using every avenue possible to get our attention. He is calling His people to turn away from sin and return to Him wholeheartedly. And while we don’t know the exact day or hour of Christ’s return, He told us there would be signs.
This is a sign.
Jesus is coming back for His bride, but the question is: is the bride ready?
⚠️ You Cannot Live Both Ways
There are too many people claiming Christ but still living like the world.
We’ve gotten comfortable with “halfway Christianity”, one foot in the Kingdom and one foot in the world. But the truth is, it doesn’t work like that.
“No one can serve two masters…” — Matthew 6:24
You cannot praise God on Sunday and live like hell the rest of the week.
You cannot speak Jesus and then speak death out of
the same mouth.
🗣️ You Can’t Speak Life and Death From the Same Mouth!!
One thing we don’t talk about enough is the power of our words.
The Bible is clear:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” — Proverbs 18:21
That means your words are not neutral.
They are either producing life… or producing death.
When we talk about “speaking death,” we’re not just talking about obvious things like wishing harm on someone. We’re also talking about the language we’ve normalized, cussing, foul speech, and careless words that don’t reflect Christ.
You may think:
“It’s just how I talk.”
“It just slips out.”
“I’m not meaning anything by it.”
But every word carries weight.
“No corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying…” — Ephesians 4:29
As followers of Christ, we are called to a different standard.
You cannot bless God and curse in the same breath and think it has no impact.
“Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” — James 3:10
Even when you’re excited, even when you’re joking, even when you’re expressing frustration, if your language is filled with profanity and corruption, you are still releasing something that does not align with life.
That matters.
⚠️ It’s Not “Just Words”, It’s Spiritual
Cussing isn’t just a habit, it’s a reflection of what’s still being worked out in the heart.
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” — Matthew 12:34
So if foul language flows easily, that’s not something to justify, that’s something to bring before God.
Because your words don’t just fill the air, they shape atmospheres.
They influence your home.
They influence your children.
They influence how people see Christ through you.
And even when you think you’re just “talking,” you are either building up… or tearing down.
That’s not transformation, that’s compromise.
And yes, Jesus sat with sinners, but He didn’t leave them the same.
They repented.
They followed Him.
They were changed.
That is the difference.
🌱 Speak Life, On Purpose
Instead of speaking death, even casually, choose to speak life intentionally.
Speak encouragement.
Speak truth.
Speak peace.
Speak blessing.
Because at the end of the day, your words should reflect the One you follow.
And Jesus never needed foul language to make His point.
🔄 Sanctification Is a Process, Not an Excuse
We are not perfect. God knows that.
Sanctification is a process. We will fall. We will have moments of weakness.
But falling is not the same as choosing to stay in sin.
“Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.” — Romans 6:1–2
Grace is not a license to remain the same.
Grace is the power to get back up and keep becoming more like Christ.
⏳ You Don’t Have Time Like You Think
One of the greatest deceptions is thinking, “I’ll get it together later.”
Later is not promised.
“Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27
The moment your spirit leaves your body, that’s it. There is no second chance. No “I’ll follow You now, Lord.”
It is finished.
And that reality should sober us.
My heart aches, not just because people die, but because so many die in their sin, separated from God for eternity.
❤️ Choose Today
This is not about condemnation. This is about awakening.
God is calling His people to choose.
“Choose this day whom you will serve…” — Joshua 24:15
You cannot love the world and love God fully.
At the end of your life, that divided life will not work in your favor.
So choose life.
Choose Christ.
Choose obedience.
Right now.
👩🏽👧🏽👶🏽👶🏼 And It Starts at Home
We also have a responsibility as parents.
Our children are watching us. They are learning from us. And one day, they will have to make their own choice about Christ.
We can’t say we love God but fail to disciple our children.
Our lives should reflect Him daily, not just in church, but in our homes.
🙏🏽 Final Call
God is speaking louder than ever before.
The question is not whether He is speaking.
The question is…..are you listening?
Before you go…
